Week 1: Sharing Hope in Our Neighborhood
Advent is a season of waiting—but not a passive waiting. It’s a time to lean into hope, peace, joy, and love, and to share these gifts with the world around us. This year, St. Michael’s is launching something new: an intergenerational Advent Evangelism Journey. It’s not about pressure or perfection—it’s about practicing the simple, beautiful ways we can share God’s love in our everyday lives.

Each week of Advent, we’ll focus on one theme: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. You’ll receive small challenges—things like writing what gives you hope, serving our neighbors, sharing joy online, and inviting someone to Christmas Eve worship. These are gentle steps to help us grow more comfortable sharing our faith and connecting with our community.

We’ll provide resources, printable cards, and social media prompts to make it easy and fun. You can participate in worship, at home, or online. Together, we’ll create ripples of grace that reach beyond our walls.

Watch for details on Facebook and our website this weekend. Let’s make this Advent a season of bold hope and warm welcome.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:13 (NRSVue)
Week 2: Sharing Peace Through Service
Advent invites us to prepare the way—not just in our hearts, but in our neighborhoods. This week, our theme is Peace, and we’ll practice it through acts of service. Peace isn’t only the absence of conflict; it’s the presence of justice, kindness, and care. When we serve others, we embody Christ’s peace in tangible ways.

How have you served your community recently? Did you participate in our Thanksgiving Bag ministry? Have you taken an ornament off the Un-Trim-A-Tree? Have you donated to the food pantry? Maybe you serve in one (or many) other ways in your community.
It’s important that we tell these stories to others. They are a tangible sign of your witness and how your faith shapes how you interact in the world. Share a photo or reflection on Facebook using #PeaceAtStMichaels. These small acts ripple outward, reminding our community that God’s peace is real and near.

Let’s make this Advent a season where peace is not just spoken—it’s lived.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9 (NRSVue)
